Germany U21 restricted Georgia to their half for the majority of the first-half, but they were unable to create clear-cut chances. In the slow-paced game, Lennart Karl and Said El Mala were forced to start their moves further from the final third.
However, the latter delivered a perfect cross for Nicolò Tresoldi in what could have easily been the first goal of the game in the 25th minute. The Club Brugge striker’s header clipped the woodwork as Germany finally threatened to break the deadlock.
The Köln winger did finish the half with an assist. Tom Bischof was causing unrest in Georgia’s defense with his set-piece deliveries, and it eventually came to fruition. In the final action of the half, El Mala headed Bischof’s corner-kick in the direction of Karl.
Bayern Munich’s emerging star scored his third goal for the U21s with a simple finish. Antonio Di Salvo’s side performed below expectations, but the late goal gave them the momentum for the restart.
Karl also had Germany’s first second-half chance in the 55th minute with his customary effort cutting in from the right wing. A couple of minutes later, Germany’s lead extended thanks to Tresoldi’s deflected shot from outside the box.
Substitute Nelson Weiper rattled the post in Germany’s best chance after the second goal. It was far from a convincing performance, but Germany once again closed the gap with Greece to three points. Di Salvo’s side will resume their qualification campaign against Czechia in March 2026.
