West Ham have had a sub-par start to their Premier League campaign with early concerns rising over manager Graham Potter's future at the club.

The Hammers have been on the receiving end of some difficult results after losing their opening two league fixtures against Sunderland and Chelsea, before having to endure an early EFL Cup exit against Wolverhapton Wanderers.

After taking over from Julen Lopetegui in January, Potter's time in the dugout has been underwhelming to say the least and could be facing the heat if results don't take a turn for the better in the near future.

According to Football Insider, ex-West Ham player and now Coventry boss Frank Lampard has been identified as a potential target to replace Potter following West Ham's poor start to the season.

The Hammers did, however, earn their first win of the season with an impressive 0-3 away win against Nottingham Forest, at the City Ground.

With growing concerns over Potter's future if he doesn't deliver on a consistent basis, it could mean that West Ham turn to the Championship in search of their next manager.

The answer could be Lampard, or maybe even at Portman Road if they look to target Kieran McKenna.

West Ham United are treading carefully when it comes to potentially parting company with Potter and look to be plotting possible targets in the background. The "key contender" is Lampard as he is keen to return to management in the Premier League after spells at Chelsea and Everton.

However, the Coventry manager is reportedly satisfied with his current role with the Sky Blues as they look to reach the heights of the top-tier also.

Another potential candidate could well be Kieran McKenna, as he has experience managing at the top level as seen last year with the Tractor Boys, as well as his time at Manchester United as Assistant Manager. Football League World's Ipswich Town fan pundit, Adam Wilkin, has no concerns over the possibility of him leaving Portman Road after becoming their permanent manager in December 2021.

Adam said, "We're clearly in a big rebuild and I don't think he'd want to go anywhere at this stage of the season... I think it's almost a good thing that we've had a poor start. I feel like McKenna would have slipped off people's radars even more."

"It would potentially be more of a survival job rather than a looking to build on something job, so I'm not sure if that would entice McKenna overly much either, so I'm not too worried about that one."

Mckenna's Ipswich and Lampard's Coventry respectively, have been tipped as two promotion candidates who both look for a return to the Premier League. With talks about the potential vacancy to take on the role as West Ham manager going on in the background, both managers will remain focused on the job ahead in the midst of an international break.

With the pair both being two young managers who are set to have a flourishing career on the touchline, the West Ham job isn't one that would entice too many. However, FLW's Ipswich Town fan pundit, Adam, believes that the role could suit Lampard over McKenna due to his service to the club in his playing days.

Adam said, "I'm not sure what sort of prospect West Ham have in terms of staying up or the money. I think they spent big last season and have tried to recoup some of that this season with the sale of [Mohammed] Kudas and stuff like that.

"The Frank Lampard move obviously makes a lot more sense with his ties to West Ham and the fact that he's managed in the Premier League a few times before and will potentially want to go back there.
