Paris’s labour court will rule on Tuesday in the dispute between Kylian Mbappé and former employer PSG.
According to L'Équipe, the combined claims exceed €700m, with Mbappé seeking €263m. That includes €44.6m for dismissal without cause, €40.4m as signing bonus with holiday pay, and €37.5m for concealed work.
He joined Real Madrid on a free in summer 2024 after a turbulent final season, and wants his fixed-term deal reclassified as permanent. At the 17 November hearing, his defence criticised PSG’s methods and said he had been deeply affected.
PSG has countered with €440m, alleging disloyal conduct and serious breaches of contract and good faith. It says he hid for about 11 months, July 2022 to June 2023, his decision not to extend, costing a lucrative transfer after paying €180m to Monaco in 2017.
That €180m appears as a loss of chance to complete a transfer, and an identical sum is also sought as damages, in theory cumulative. In practice the grounds target the same facts, so are unlikely to be combined.
On 9 December, the Paris Court of Appeal upheld the annulment of a €55m conservatory seizure on PSG accounts obtained by Mbappé in April.
Today’s ruling by four labour councillors is unlikely to end the case. A 4-0 or 3-1 decision can be appealed, while a 2-2 tie sends it to a départiteur judge. The decision is due at 13:00, either announced in court or provided in writing via the registry.
