Leeds beat Burnley 3-1 at Elland Road on Friday night, moving onto 43 points and above Newcastle into 14th before Brighton play on Saturday.
yorkshireevenpost.co.uk also highlighted a string of off-camera moments around Elland Road.
The display was imperfect but apt for their season, featuring a spectacular long-range strike from Anton Stach, a flowing move and a scrappy finish. They all counted and Leeds now have as many goals this season as Aston Villa.
After two and a half weeks out and only 45 minutes against Chelsea, the German started and capped it with a cracking goal. A six foot four centre-back dominated Zian Flemming in the air and threaded the pass for Stach’s strike.
It was the worst refereeing display of the season at Elland Road. Daniel Farke grew increasingly agitated with Thomas Bramall during the first half and was also unforgiving with several outfield players.
Hannibal Mejbri, booed for his Manchester United past and a previous spitting incident, went down the tunnel for 10 minutes in the first half. At half-time he argued with a groundsman after stepping on a sprinkler. On the pitch he was floored by Ethan Ampadu, clipped Brenden Aaronson, was booked and walked a tightrope before heading straight off at full-time.
Pre-match brought boardroom and warm-up subplots. Chairman Paraag Marathe and the hierarchy circled the pitch after a Supporters Advisory Board meeting, while former chairman Andrea Radrizzani embraced him. Joe Rodon counselled Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka chastised himself in possession drills.
