Leicester City supporters will view their draw against Coventry City as three points dropped rather than a point gained.
Leicester City's hosting of fellow Championship high-flyers Coventry City ended goalless on Saturday lunchtime to the disappointment of both sides, who have been in top form in the early stages of the season.
After an underwhelming first half when it came to the scoreline, both teams took their time to get into full flow. It was Leicester who looked the likely team to go on and get the three points after hitting five shots on target in the first 45 minutes.
The second half followed in the same fashion as the Foxes peppered shots at Carl Rushworth in the Coventry goal, who was the standout performer on the day.
The 24-year-old made a total of nine saves to keep the Leicester attack at bay. As for the Foxes, wastefulness in front of goal was the story of their afternoon, with fans demanding more in front of goal going forward.
Leicester clocked up a total of 17 shots against local rivals Coventry, with nine of them testing the hands of Rushworth. However, a goal eluded them despite having two big chances.
Foxes fans swarmed to X to let their feelings be known over their side's disappointing performance in the final third.
"Julian (Carranza) has to start next game. How many chances were wasted because there was no one up front or just people couldn't finish," one fan wrote.
"Overall a fair result I guess, however we had plenty of chances to get the three points, but just too wasteful and weak in front of goal," said another Foxes fan.
One fan took a positive approach by commenting: "Leicester dominated, created chances and missed many sitters. Keep your head up."
With both sides coming up short when it came to finding the back of the net, another Leicester fan commented via X: "We wasn't clinical enough but Cov [Coventry] could say the same tbf [to be fair]."
"Had so many chances and we wasted them," commented another frustrated Leicester supporter.
With West Brom at the Hawthorns next on the agenda for the Foxes, Marti Cifuentes will want his team to put things right in front of goal with the absence of a clinical number 9 is becoming an increasingly prevalent problem.
The loss of Jamie Vardy is obvious to see after having such a heavy reliance on the new Cremonese striker for over a decade.
A point at the end of the day is a decent result for the Foxes considering the form the Coventry attack had been in prior to their matchup, having scored 15 goals in five matches before the 0-0 draw.
Leicester still sit comfortably in the play-off spots, but with just eight goals scored in six league games so far this season, and yet to score more than two goals in any individual game, Cifuentes' side are going to have to become considerably more clinical in front of goal if they are to mount a serious promotion challenge.
Indeed, the Foxes fired 17 shots at the Coventry City goal on Saturday, with nine of those being on target, but an expected goals (xG) figure of 0.97 tells the tale of a wasteful afternoon in front of goal.
