Leonardo Pantaleão questions legality of Romeu Tuma Júnior’s provisional removal at Corinthians | OneFootball

Leonardo Pantaleão, vice-president of Corinthians’ Conselho Deliberativo and head of the Ethics and Discipline Commission, has questioned the legality of Monday’s Parque São Jorge meeting that voted to provisionally remove Romeu Tuma Júnior.

He acknowledged the stance of 137 councillors but argues statutory breaches void the vote. According to Meu Timao, he and Tuma skipped the session over its procedures.

The sitting began under first secretary Maria Angela Ocampos, who closed it citing irregularities, then second secretary Denis Nieto Piovesan continued proceedings. Despite 115 votes for removal, Pantaleão says Osmar Stabile’s summons lacked authority under article 82, II, b.

In a note, he said any decision depends on the regularity of its originating act and questioned the meeting’s conduct, urging caution. He added there is no formal change in the CD presidency until validity is recognised, and institutional acts will follow the Statute.

Pantaleão had already opposed the move and said lifetime councillors threatened him to attend and conduct the session, which he refused.

Hours before the meeting, Tuma filed a judicial interpellation in São Paulo seeking clarifications from Stabile, who has accused him of intimidation and attempts to interfere in the club’s management.

Tensions flared on 9 March when a vote on a draft Statute reform was cancelled after Stabile accused Tuma of threats and later asked the Ethics Commission to suspend him provisionally, a request not yet in motion.
