Liverpool standout Hugo Ekitike had a rough time at PSG, there’s no question. The Parisians were still in the “bling-bling” era as the Frenchman arrived with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappe, and Sergio Ramos on the team.
Ektike would get lost in the shuffle after moving from Stade de Reims to PSG. With Luis Enrique taking over as manager, the Spanish manager didn’t count on him, and his confidence was probably more shot.
As a result, the Ligue 1 side allowed him to leave for Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was able to find his confidence and led to his second big move of his career, this time to Liverpool.

In July, Ekitike completed his move to Anfield for an initial £69 million, with the potential for an additional £10 million in add-ons. Moreover, he signed a six-year contract, per ESPN. PSG benefited from the transfer thanks to a sell-on clause.
Still, Ekitike said he gained valuable experience at PSG, sharing his thoughts with reporters on Monday ahead of the Champions League clash with Galatasaray S.K.
“When I first played Champions League with PSG, I was young, I was on the bench, I was more watching,” Ekitike told reporters (h/t Empire of the Kop). “I would say now it’s my time – being someone who can be counted on to help the team to reach success in Champions League.”
