Liverpool have made a €100m pick to replace Mo Salah. They couldn't possibly have chosen better.
Mo Salah hasn’t started the season strongly, it must be said. Though, it should also be said that it’s only by his own standards.
The Egyptian has six goal contributions in seven starts this season. It’s hardly a nightmare run of form.
Regardless, he hasn’t quite been at his best and that does shine a very bright light on Liverpool’s biggest problem. What do they do when Salah isn’t a go-to?
Because regardless of whether he recaptures his best form or not, that time is coming. Salah’s contract expires at the end of next season and if that isn’t the end, age will eventually slow him down. Surely.
And so Liverpool must consider their targets to replace him, even if it’s not for another year. Their prime option is about as good as it gets.
Abendzeitung Muenchen claims Liverpool are at the front of the queue for Michael Olise. The winger is valued at around €100m by Bayern Munich right now, who hope to tie him down to a new contract.
Now, Olise's contract runs until 2029 but there's a clear feeling that his reputation is rising. If that continues to happen, it can quickly lead to him being unsettled in Munich.
If they can't sign him to a new contract, that is. Liverpool will pile the pressure on in hope of getting Olise to request a transfer while dangling an enormous fee in front of Bayern.
