Lucas Beltrán’s Valencia stint is over after his move to River Plate was made official. He has posted a heartfelt farewell to the club, team-mates and supporters.

The player said in a social media post that he was grateful to have been part of the club and that the season was not what anyone wanted. He thanked team-mates, club staff and the Valencia support for their backing throughout.

His message quickly drew replies from former team-mates including Diego López, Jesús Vázquez, Copete, Javi Guerra and Santamaría, underlining his popularity in the dressing room despite spending only one season at Mestalla.

On the pitch, Beltrán began the campaign as a substitute and had to wait for chances. His intensity, pressing and commitment gradually earned the coaching staff’s trust and a place in the starting line-up.

Just as continuity arrived, a knee injury hampered him during the decisive run-in and he was unable to perform at full tilt. That setback checked an upward trajectory.

He finished with three goals and two assists. Two came in the Copa del Rey, including a decisive strike against Cartagena that sent Valencia through, and the other arrived in LaLiga with a fine finish at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano against Atlético Madrid, though it could not prevent defeat.

With his return to River Plate confirmed, Beltrán starts a new chapter under Chacho Coudet at the club where he came through, aiming to rediscover rhythm and become an attacking reference again.
