Barcelona are set to take on Paris Saint-Germain on October 1, in what will be the most challenging game for Hansi Flick’s men in the new season.

Before these two teams take each other on, PSG still have a game against Auxerre while Barcelona are slated to face Real Sociedad on September 28.

Heading into the Auxerre game on Saturday, PSG coach Luis Enrique notably mentioned Barcelona while also talking about Ousmane Dembele and injuries ahead of the UCL tie.

PSG are heading into the Auxerre game on the back of a defeat to Olympique Marseille. Keeping that in mind, Enrique reminded his players that they cannot make the same mistakes vs Barcelona.

“If you miss the same number of easy passes against OM or Barça, you’re lost. As a coach, I shouldn’t get angry or accept that players make mistakes. But we’ll improve on that tomorrow and against Barça,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Enrique went on to talk about Dembele and his triumph at the Ballon d’Or 2025, where he beat Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

“We are also the best team in the world, and we are proud of that. Seeing Ousmane Dembele getting rewarded is great,” he said.

“It was an almost perfect Monday despite the defeat in the Clasico against Marseille. Seeing Ousmane share the Ballon d’Or with the fans is something that has never happened before. Hats off to him!” he added.

Enrique also talked about the injuries for PSG heading into the Barcelona match, including defensive leader Marquinhos.

“That’s football, competition, normality, the highest level. I’m not worried. Bodies are no more fragile than last season. We try to anticipate, but I’m not a fortune teller,” he said on rising injuries.

“Marquinhos, in the last play of the game against Marseille, felt a little pain. Nothing serious, but we have to be alert and not take risks. In a game of this intensity, it’s normal,” noted Enrique.

“It’s a shame because he’s our captain, but we have to be prepared, and we are,” he concluded.
