In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester City are showing interest in Atletico Madrid winger Thiago Almada next year. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian giants are eyeing a move to bring the Argentine wide player to the Etihad Stadium.
Almada managed to catch the eye with his performances on loan at Olympique Lyonnais last season. The 24-year-old scored two goals and earned five assists in 21 matches for Lyon in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Argentine talent deserves some credit for averaging 2.18 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He kept 21.7% of his attempts on target. Almada was careful when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 84.9% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at his parent club Atletico Madrid will expire in the summer of 2030. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man City to snap him up on the cheap next year.

Almada is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can strike the ball purely and with power from long range. Almada mainly operates as a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player or fill in as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.
The Argentine sensation is a tidy passer of the ball as well. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to bring him on board next year.
Almada would no doubt enhance the quality of Pep Guardiola’s attack in the long run. He is already good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium.
At 24, Almada has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for the Mancunian club’s needs next year. Therefore, Guardiola should focus on trying everything in his power to bring him to England this January or at the end of this campaign.
