Manchester City head coach Andree Jeglertz has confirmed that Lauren Hemp will be out of action ‘for a few weeks’ after suffering an ankle injury.

The England international suffered the injury in City’s 5-1 victory over Tottenham last week.

Hemp was seen wearing a protective boot towards the end of the game and concerns were raised as she appeared to look emotional after the final whistle.

The Euro 2025 winning star missed five months of action with a knee injury during the 2024-25 campaign.

However, it appears as though this injury is not as bad as what some may have first feared – although she will be out for a number of weeks.

Andree Jeglertz provides Lauren Hemp update

Manchester City are in action against the newly promoted London City Lionesses on Sunday, September 28th.

Hemp was expected to miss the clash as she underwent a scan on her ankle injury earlier this week.

City have had the scan results back and Hemp will miss the next couple of weeks for City.

Jeglertz said in his press conference: “She [Hemp] has an ankle injury and is out for a couple of weeks.

“Of course, it’s a tough situation for her. She wants to play and we want her to play but injuries happen.

“She is doing everything she can to get back as quickly as possible and she needs to support the team in another way. Hopefully, she will be back soon.”

City’s head coach was also provided an update on Sydney Lohmann and Rebecca Knaak. Lohmann has been absent since the opening day of the season while Knack has been unavailable so far this season.

Jeglertz said: “[They] both are back in team training. We’ll see how it is tomorrow but they’re back on the field.”

Manchester City prepare for London City Lionesses clash

Manchester City will look to make it three wins on the trot when they play the London City Lionesses this weekend.

City were in fine form last week, putting five goals past Tottenham, before then beating Everton 3-1 in the Women’s League Cup.

London City won their first game of the season last weekend against Everton, but lacked in quality when facing Arsenal and Manchester United.

He told SheKicks: “It’s a great opportunity for us to compete with one of the best teams of this game – a great opportunity to play, great opportunity to improve, great opportunity to get some experience and test our level, and hopefully a great opportunity to show we are able to compete.”
