Chelsea have all manner of players on the books, some at the club, some on loan, and some at other clubs with a future arrangement to join the Blues.

Geovany Quenda is in the latter camp, and he’s been playing more and more for Sporting as he prepares for a Chelsea move next summer. Kieran Gill’s Chelsea Confidential revealed that the Blues’ staff are watching him closely.

“We do not know the identity of the Chelsea staff member who sent the message, but Confidential has been told that Geovany Quenda received some kind words after the 18-year-old scored a sensational goal for Sporting CP in their 4-1 Champions League win over Kairat Almaty,” Gill wrote.

“The flying winger/wing-back will join the Blues next summer in a £40million deal, and his future club are tracking him closely The Portugal Under-21 international is determined to use this season with Sporting to show why Chelsea supporters should be excited for his impending arrival.”

We would still like to see him get more starts, but we’re not going to question Sporting – they’re pretty good at developing young players. They’ve got a league title to fight for, too.

Quenda still to come – but Estevao is already here

Of course we’re super excited to see Quenda in action, and we’ve been watching his Sporting highlights with great interest. He looks super exciting and dynamic, and that goal in midweek really was special. He wriggled between defenders and got a shot away in a tight space, looking like Rafa Leao.

But let’s be honest – we’ve barely seen Estevao Willian yet! We are keen to see him get starts and develop, let’s not start thinking about dessert before we’ve had our starter.
