A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is set for an extended incoming spell on the sidelines.
The player in question? Joan García.
The name of shot-stopper Joan has of course positioned itself centre stage in the chatter surrounding Barcelona across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 24-year-old had been forced to sit out training, owing to an injury setback.
Joan, in turn, was put through a round of medical scans and checks on Friday afternoon.
And as alluded to above, the results of as much have since proven to be far from encouraging.
As announced across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, the club’s no.1 will on Saturday undergo surgery to repair a meniscus injury.
Joan is facing up to a spell of four to six weeks on the treatment table as a result:
‘Player Joan García has suffered a tear of the internal meniscus in his left knee. Tomorrow, he will undergo arthroscopic surgery performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau. The estimated recovery time is between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on his progress.’
