Red Bull are said to have considered Oliver Glasner for an imminent director of football vacancy as Jurgen Klopp closes in on the Germany job.
Nottingham Post reports that Glasner was in contention to replace Klopp in that role, but he is heading to Nottingham Forest to succeed the outgoing Vitor Pereira.
Klopp's return to the dugout to replace Julian Nagelsmann is still to be confirmed, yet it is described as a matter of when, not if. The report adds he has given his agreement, with contract terms, including length, still to be finalised.
Red Bull's interest underscores Glasner's rising stock after his impressive work at Crystal Palace.
He would be the Reds' fifth manager in 12 months, and the move has not yet been made official. He is, however, poised to sign a three-year deal at the City Ground.
