Barcelona downed Real Madrid in the second league Clasico of the season on Sunday night, and did so with one clinic of a performance.
The Catalans were the better side in every aspect of the game and dominated their arch-rivals in possession and outside of it. Every major chance, in fact, was seemingly Barcelona’s and they ran away with an early lead.
What the result does, however, is seal a place in the history books as it seals Barcelona’s status as league champions after a direct win in El Clasico.
The Catalans are now mathematically the champions of La Liga, and there was no sweeter way to get there than a win over Real Madrid.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 2-0 Real Madrid.
While many expected Joan Garcia to have an eventful outing given Vinicius Jr.’s form, the goalkeeper was forced to make just one save in the opening half. His distribution was on-point and he looked rock-solid as the Zamora trophy favourite.
Cancelo’s outing was relatively silent as he did not quite find the final ball as often as he would have liked to. His dribbling was strong, but he was even beaten defensively on a couple of occasions.
While he did not make any blunders, he was one of the players who didn’t turn up at their best level.
Martin was fabulous at the back, with an immaculate passing range and perfect decision-making in defence. Complemented Cubarsi to the T and did not give Real Madrid much space to capitalise on.
The young defensive leader continued to act as the team’s reference point at the back with an almost perfect pass accuracy and eight defensive actions in just the first half alone. He was, in fact, the starting point of so many Barcelona buildup sequences.

Eric started ahead of Jules Kounde at right-back and put up a clinic. He effectively handled the Vinicius Jr. threat and fought with him toe to toe, nullifying his effort in the game.
Handed a start once again by Hansi Flick, Gavi added the physical edge that Barcelona needed to keep Real Madrid off the ball.
The youngster won duels for fun, frustrating the Real Madrid midfield and taking charge of the game even when Barcelona were off the ball. In possession, he was ever reliable with his accuracy and decision-making.

With a week of rest under his belt, Pedri was back to his imperial best and did not have any lacunae in his game for Real Madrid to possibly exploit.
The player was back to his best and simply could not be beaten in possession. He took the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga on a joyride, frustrating them with his feints.
The Spanish attacking midfielder was stunning against Real Madrid and simply at the peak of his powers of deception and distribution.
He made runs into spaces at opportune moments to place Real Madrid’s defence in disarray and was ever-reliable in tight combination play. Provided the assist for Ferran Torres’ goal on the night.
The La Masia star was one of the more silent players on the night by his standards and his shooting was not quite as good as it normally is.
Beyond that, however, Lopez was positive with his dribbling and passing and added width to the team’s attack while also drifting centrally on need.

Rashford gave Barcelona the early lead with a stunning free-kick placed into the top bins, and that set the stage for a strong performance to follow.
The Englishman then went on to carry on the same momentum into the rest of the game, making good decisions in possession and creating a massive threat on the wings with his pace.
Entering the game in great form and confidence, Torres got into great goalscoring positions with his movements and looked lethal in them all.
He earned the free-kick that gave Barcelona the lead and then went on to score a stunner for the second-goal. Could well have had a hat-trick of his own.
