Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has finally spoken about Barcelona’s reported interest in his star striker, Erling Haaland.

The Spanish manager admitted that the Norwegian forward would be a “dream signing” for any club, including Barcelona, but reminded everyone that the player is happy and well-settled at City.

Erling Haaland has been one of football’s most sought-after players ever since his breakout years.

The 25-year-old has maintained a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in Europe, and it is no surprise that Barcelona have kept a close eye on him.

Reports suggest that the Catalan club could make a move for the Manchester City striker in 2026, a plan that club president Joan Laporta is seriously considering.

Guardiola’s reaction to Barcelona’s admiration

When asked about Barcelona viewing Haaland as a dream signing, Guardiola responded openly,

“Can you tell me one club that wouldn’t want Haaland as a dream?

“I understand it’s a dream for all the clubs in the world, if he weren’t at City it would be a dream to have Erling.

He has a long contract here and is doing very well, scoring a lot of goals,” said the former Barcelona boss.

The City manager also highlighted Haaland’s commitment to the club when questioned about his long-term deal. He added,

“I think Erling is not stupid enough to sign something he would not like to accomplish. That’s for sure.

But, football, who knows what is going to happen in the next time. Nobody knows.”

A distant dream for Barcelona

Notably, Haaland signed a massive 10-year contract in January, keeping him at Manchester City until the summer of 2034.

For Barcelona, this makes any potential move extremely difficult. Even though Laporta dreams of bringing Haaland to the Camp Nou, the club would need substantial financial muscle to make such a deal possible – something they currently lack.

For now, it seems Haaland’s future remains firmly in Manchester, where he continues to break records under Guardiola’s guidance.
