Rangers’ reported interest in Sunderland forward Finn Geragusian has been questioned, with former chief executive Keith Wyness urging caution about exposing an 18-year-old to Glasgow pressures. The teenager recently became Armenia’s newest senior international.

“For Rangers, they’ve got to be careful because taking an 18-year-old into the Glasgow pressure cooker isn’t always easy either, and that may not be the best platform.” He was speaking on the Inside Track Podcast.

Geragusian has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 27 outings across Sunderland’s under-21 and under-18 sides this season. He was on the bench for the FA Cup fifth round defeat at Port Vale, then received his first senior Armenia call-up.

He made his debut earlier this week, replacing Grant-Leon Ramos for the final half-hour of a 2-1 friendly loss to Belarus. Head coach Yegishe Melikyan said the call-up addressed a lack of forward options and was intended to accelerate his transition, while stressing he has not played senior club minutes and is not yet ready for the national team.

Despite being viewed as a first-team prospect by Sunderland, there has been speculation that Nottingham Forest and Rangers are planning a summer move. “I’d want to do some research into the personality and the character of the player.”
