The match against Borussia Dortmund last night was another memorable Champions League episode for the Real Madrid fans. They saw their team go into the half-time break with a 2-0 disadvantage, but then also witnessed a great comeback as the Merengues scored five goals in the second half.

Vinicius Junior scored a hat-trick, with two memorable goals, while Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez also scored one each to get the victory for the Merengues. However, Thibaut Courtois’ contributions on the other end were also decisive, as he made five saves on the night, and kept his team from being further down in the first half.

With this performance, the Belgian shot-stopper once again showed his importance in the Real Madrid team. Thus, the Merengues will find his absence even more pinching as MARCA reports that he is suffering from an injury to the adductor muscle of the left leg, and thus is ruled out for the upcoming crucial game against Barcelona.

Real Madrid confirmed this injury in a surprise statement, that came only a few minutes after they had confirmed Rodrygo’s injury. The statement from the Merengues went as:

“After the tests conducted on our player Thibaut Courtois by Real Madrid’s Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor muscle in his left leg. He is pending further evaluation.”

This is the second muscle injury that Courtois has suffered this season, as he also had to miss some games earlier in the season because of an abductor muscle injury. But Real Madrid are not too concerned with the situation, as they understand that such issues are to expected after recovering from an injury as serious as the ACL tear he had to endure last season.

The Belgian is expected to remain on the sidelines for two weeks with this injury, and might miss the games against Barcelona, Valencia, and AC Milan.
