An Asturian Segunda División referee is under investigation over an alleged sexual assault on a sex worker after arriving in a National Police T-shirt and questioning her about her status. LA NUEVA ESPAÑA first reported the case.

He had booked the appointment by phone, then entered a flat used for prostitution, removed his coat and revealed the police-branded top, according to the complaint. He did not display any badge. The Venezuelan woman says he asked about papers and possible expulsion.

Believing he was a genuine officer and fearing legal trouble, she agreed to sex without payment and later reported the incident to Gijón police. UFAM officers traced him via his number and she identified him from a photo. A search of his Oviedo home found uniforms and merchandise from several Spanish forces.

He is on conditional release with a restraining order. The inquiry remains active in and beyond Asturias as investigators assess whether there could be similar cases, a profile described as concerning in police circles. He has no known prior sexual offences, though he has previous issues for theft and reckless driving that do not count for recidivism.

The Spanish FA has suspended him on precautionary grounds until his culpability is clarified. President Rafael Louzán said action would be immediate and there would be no half measures. He was detained in late January and, the first weekend of February, refereed a second-tier match after time in custody, and continued his routine as the case became public.
