According to Leeds Live, Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi says he has seen enough from his side to convince him they will win their relegation fight after former Leeds United star Georginio Rutter’s injury-time equaliser earned Brighton a 2-2 draw on Saturday evening.
Earlier on Saturday, Leeds beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at home. The draw kept Spurs in the drop zone and left them eight points behind the Whites.
Tottenham have five matches remaining, including a meeting with Leeds that would cut the deficit if they win. Whether they can haul in Daniel Farke’s team is open to debate, with the primary target appearing to be West Ham and Nottingham Forest directly above.
De Zerbi said he felt positive and proud of his players, praising their character and spirit. He urged his squad to move on from the setback, prepare for the next match and try to win it. He added that Spurs can compete again.
He spoke of seeing the signs he wanted, citing blood, character, qualities and organisation with and without the ball, believing those elements are enough to reach their target.
Leeds can move 11 points clear of Tottenham if they win at Bournemouth on Wednesday. Spurs visit Wolves this weekend, while the Whites are in FA Cup semi-final action.
