Rumors of a transfer for Michael Olise to Real Madrid just won’t go away. Now CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has weighed in—and unequivocally ruled out the Frenchman’s departure.

At FC Bayern, there’s apparently nothing to discuss regarding Olise. Speaking at the “Presseclub München” on Tuesday, Dreesen made it clear that the winger will continue to wear the Munich jersey next season. “Of course” Olise will stay, the 58-year-old emphasized.

Just how serious Real Madrid’s interest was can be gauged by one number. When asked how many calls he had received from the Spanish capital over the summer, Dreesen replied with a smile: “Cero”—meaning not a single one. “Not even a letter, a fax, or an email.”

Visibly amused, the Bayern boss reacted to the intensity of the rumors, which had spread primarily abroad. “It’s amazing what kinds of things can be spread when you yourself know the truth—it’s fascinating,” said Dreesen. Even in his private life, he couldn’t escape the topic: “I don’t even know how many times I’ve been asked by friends” whether Olise might end up moving to Spain after all.

Dreesen underscored that a sale is not an option for the German record champions with a clear calculation: “Not a single person has said, ‘At 200 million, you have to sell him.’” Even a hefty transfer fee would not sway Munich’s stance, he added.

Real Madrid has already denied any contact

Ironically, the supposed suitor itself had previously provided backing. Real Madrid had already officially stated before the World Cup “that there has been no direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his inner circle.” At the same time, the club emphasized its “excellent relations” with FC Bayern. According to media reports, the Munich executives had taken the speculation in stride anyway.

On the field, Olise has recently and impressively proven his worth. At the World Cup, the 24-year-old, playing alongside captain Kylian Mbappé, emerged as a game-changer for the French national team before Les Bleus were eliminated 0–2 by Spain in the semifinals. His contract with FC Bayern runs through 2029.
