Sunderland have been hit by four fresh injury worries in the wake of their 3-1 home defeat to Fulham, casting doubt over availability for next Tuesday’s trip to Leeds United.

“It's a bit early to say, so we had Nordi, Jocelin, Brian, maybe Romaine as well, so it was a tough day,” he told the Sunderland Echo.

Nordi Mukiele’s problem looked the most serious, the defender going down without contact. He tried to continue but was withdrawn inside 12 minutes, in tears as Lutsharel Geetruida came on. Debutant Jocelin Ta Bi also limped off before the break.

Mukiele, 28, has been central since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, with one goal and three assists in 25 league games. He has hinted at a longer-term setback and vowed to come back stronger.

Dennis Cirkin missed Sunday with a minor issue and joins Mukiele, Ta Bi, Brian Brobbey and Romaine Mundle in the treatment room. Reinildo Mandava is out for around one month with a knee injury and will not feature at Elland Road.

Sunderland visit Bournemouth this weekend before Tuesday’s trip to Leeds. The reverse fixture finished 1-1 at the Stadium of Light in December, Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalising after Leeds fell behind around the half-hour. Daniel Farke’s side drew 1-1 at Aston Villa last time out and host Manchester City on Saturday.
