Sunderland have been linked with a summer move for Almeria attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas after securing their Premier League status.

Sport Witness suggests Sunderland could attempt to bring Arribas to the Premier League after his performances caught the eye of sporting director Florent Ghisolfi. The Spaniard had been on Chelsea’s radar before joining Almeria.

Sunderland are shaping plans for the window after recent wins over Leeds United and local rivals Newcastle United confirmed safety. Other names linked include Bologna and Colombia defender Jhon Lucimi, Brøndby’s Clement Bischoff and Clermont Foot midfielder Habib Keita.

A Real Madrid academy graduate, Arribas joined the Segunda Division club in a reported £5m deal in 2023. Since then he has scored 38 goals and supplied 16 assists in 116 appearances, with 27 goal involvements in 33 matches this season.

Gazzetta claims Roma are also keen on Arribas and have identified him and Red Bull Salzburg’s Kerim Alajbegović as two main targets as they prepare for life without Paulo Dybala.
