Spurs agree first deal ahead of what could a busy January window
Thomas Frank has reiterated that Tottenham “will be in the market” for new signings in January after Crystal Palace agreed a £35million deal for Brennan Johnson.
Johnson is also attracting interest from Bournemouth, who could make a late move to rival Palace for his signature as they target a replacement for Antoine Semenyo.
The Spurs winger scored the winner in the Europa League final last season but he has struggled for regular football under Thomas Frank and could leave next month.
A new forward is expected to be a priority for Spurs if Johnson leaves, with the club looking for reinforcements in January.

"We are,” said Frank. “We will be in the market. We are definitely interested in, if we can, strengthening the squad. We will do that.
“I've said it a few times before that things are important because of different types you can add to a squad.
“The main bit is the ones we add need to be ones that we really think can improve the team. Then, like normal, there can be outgoings if you want to try to make a sharp squad.”
Spurs’ owners injected £100m into the club earlier this season and, while that figure should may not be solely a transfer kitty, the Lewis Family are keen to show intent in the transfer market as they push the idea of a “new era” following the departure of Daniel Levy.
Midfield and full-back are also seen as positions in need of strengthening.
Asked whether Johnson will be available to face Brentford on New Year’s Day, Frank said: “He contributed to a very good and important win against Crystal Palace. He trained very well today. I expect him fully to be available and able to play against Brentford.”
