Thomas Partey, Villarreal midfielder, has been charged by prosecutors in England with two further counts of rape, intensifying his legal predicament. He already faces five counts of rape and one of sexual assault in the UK.

The new allegations stem from a separate complaint filed in 2020 by a different woman, according to The Telegraph. The Metropolitan Police reopened the inquiry in 2025 and later referred the case to the courts.

Partey, aged 32, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 13 March. He pleaded not guilty in September 2025 to those earlier charges, which relate to incidents between 2021 and 2022 while at Arsenal. The trial in that case is scheduled for 2 November 2026 at Southwark Crown Court.

Under court-imposed measures, he can continue playing for Villarreal. He must give at least 24 hours' notice of any international travel and is barred from contacting the complainants in the new case.

On the pitch, his Villarreal spell has been shaped by the ongoing allegations. He has logged 1,075 minutes across 21 matches, five in the Champions League, 14 in LaLiga and two in the Copa del Rey.

His contract at Villarreal expires on 30 June this year, leaving his future at the club uncertain while the legal processes continue.
