Unai Núñez close to Valencia move | OneFootball

Valencia are working to finalise the signing of Unai Núñez, with three-way negotiations under way with Celta Vigo and Hellas Verona.

According to AS, the centre-back wants to return to Spain, a factor considered key to the move. He is on loan at Verona from Celta.

Núñez, born in Portugalete in 1997, fits Carlos Corberán’s brief for experience and immediate impact. He has played 270 top-flight matches for Athletic, Celta and Hellas Verona. This season he has featured 18 times, 17 of them in Serie A, and has missed four, three through injury and one through suspension.

Valencia, who tracked him during his Athletic days, are accelerating the operation and aim to try to close it between today and Sunday.

The club have long been aware of his wish to return for personal reasons. Verona understand the situation and are searching for a January replacement.
