Unai Núñez set for Valencia as Corberán says Espanyol involvement depends on paperwork | OneFootball

Carlos Corberán says a new centre-back should arrive at Valencia in the coming hours and any appearance against Espanyol will depend on paperwork rather than sporting reasons. He spoke without naming the player and stressed availability would hinge on administrative clearance.

Valencia are close to sealing a deal for Unai Núñez, the 28-year-old Basque defender at Hellas Verona on loan from Celta de Vigo. According to Superdeporte, an agreement was reached on Friday and the move is imminent.

Núñez is set to join on loan until 30 June 2026. The plan is for him to travel to Valencia shortly for medical tests and to sign his contract.

Corberán said the club had tried to conclude the operation earlier, but with several parties involved it could not be completed sooner.

He also noted the player has not trained with the team, so selection at Mestalla will be guided by administrative timing as well as that lack of preparation.
