Celtic fans continued their protests against Michael Nicholson and the Celtic Board during this afternoon’s meeting with Dundee. The Scottish Champions fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Dee, the first time Dundee have beaten Celtic since 1988.
During the week, The Celtic Fans Collective met to discuss their next steps to achieve change at the club following fairly unproductive discussions with the club earlier this month. The consensus across the support is that change is required at an executive level but it remains to be seen how is the best way forward to achieve this goal.
In the early stages of the game at Dens, in which Celtic were beaten by Steven Pressley’s side, supporters behind the goal threw a number of balls onto the pitch, forcing the game to be postponed. As this interrupted the start to the match, players were keen to get the game back underway and tried to assist with the clear up effort but a number looked visibly raging – including Kasper Schmeichel.
The nature of the protest was not known by the collective that met during the week and it has split supporters, who believe that the ‘Back the Team, Sack the Board’ mantra should be adhered to. Unity is required amongst the support and address the issues in a sensible, constructive forum. There is appetite for change but there requires to be direction and consensus into how that is achieved.
