Chelsea lead against Brighton! It came from an attack down the right hand side through Moises Caicedo and Reece James.

It had not been a great start to the game from the home team, who were struggling to find solutions in attack without Cole Palmer. But one quick move changed all that.

Caicedo found a clever reverse pass between full back and centre back to release the onrushing James. His cross took a deflection, but ended up going exactly where he would have wanted it to go – to the far post where Enzo Fernandez was rushing in to head it home.

Now that Chelsea are ahead, it will be really interesting to see how they approach the rest of this game. They will want a second goal, but they can also play a little deeper and try to hit Brighton on the counter through their wingers if they want.

Enzo hits back at haters with yet another goal contribution

Enzo is becoming a bit of a divisive figure at Chelsea now. There are increasing calls for him to be dropped, with some fans saying he just doesn’t affect the game enough in possession or defensively.

They accuse him of “covering up” bad performances with goals and assists. Today might end up being a perfect example.

The fact that Cole Palmer is out and Enzo has been moved forward into his position should help him. It reduces his defensive responsibilities further and means he’s even more able to get into positions to score goals like this.

We still want to see more from him creatively and in terms of possession, but as long as he keeps getting on the scoresheet nobody is going to complain.
