Vincenzo Italiano has left Bologna after two seasons and is considered a possible successor to Antonio Conte at Naples. According to Italian media, he is competing with Massimiliano Allegri for the role next season.

The departure was made official on Thursday, with his contract ended by mutual consent after being set to run until 2027.

Italiano, 48, arrived in 2024 to replace Thiago Motta and took charge of 107 matches. He won the 2025 Coppa Italia, beating AC Milan 1-0.

Bologna finished eighth in Serie A this season with 56 points, three short of the final European place held by Atalanta Bergame in seventh.

His exit continues a series of coaching changes in Serie A, with Massimiliano Allegri leaving AC Milan, Antonio Conte departing Naples and Maurizio Sarri moving on from Lazio Rome.

Names linked to the Bologna vacancy include Eusebio di Francesco, Raffaele Palladino and Stefano Pioli. Di Francesco is in charge at Lecce, Palladino is set to leave Atalanta Bergame and Pioli is out of contract.
