Barcelona’s first training session following their La Liga title celebrations featured a rather unexpected guest in the form of Joachim Low, former manager of the German national team and close friend of Barça boss Hansi Flick.
After a triumphant parade through the streets of Barcelona, the players returned to the Joan Gamper Sports Complex to resume preparations, and they were greeted by none other than the man who led Germany to World Cup glory in 2014.
Low’s visit was more than symbolic, as it was a show of admiration and personal support for Flick, who served as his assistant for eight years during Germany’s most successful era in modern football.
Hold everyone in high regard
Low took the time to greet the entire Barcelona coaching staff, exchanging particularly warm words with Marcus Sorg, who also worked under him with the German national team.
Sorg is now part of Flick’s trusted team at Barça, and the reunion highlighted the deep connections between these experienced German tacticians.
According to a previous interview, Low continues to hold Flick in the highest regard: “Hansi Flick communicates even with players who are in the background. That’s his strength.
“It’s incredible. He’s also very good at tactics and has a very deep understanding of football.”
Their bond goes beyond professional respect, as Flick was Low’s right-hand man from 2006 to 2014, helping lay the foundation for Germany’s World Cup win in Brazil.
The duo formed a formidable partnership, and their shared philosophy of tactical precision and player management has now taken root in Catalonia.
With the league title secured and eyes now set on finishing the season strongly, Flick’s project at Barcelona continues to gain momentum, and the presence of someone like Low only strengthens the sense that Barça are building something special under German guidance.
