West Ham United want to buy Elfsborg goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin out of his contract, according to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen.
He worked with Hammers manager Graham Potter at Ostersunds, and a reunion is now on the cards.
Kandolin left Ostersunds in 2019 for Elfsborh. He extended his contract last September until 2027, leaving suitors needing to pay a fee to secure his services.
The 34-year-old also works with the Sweden under-21 national team as a goalkeeper coach, and he will now look to continue his career in the Premier League.
West Ham parted with Polish goalie Lukasz Fabianski after seven seasons this summer, and Kandolin will be working with Alphonse Areola, Wes Foderingham and Krisztian Hegyi.
He helped Elfsborg secure a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper in the Swedish league after Brentford paid £2.6 million for Hakon Valdimarsson in January 2024.
West Ham shipped 62 league goals last term, and they will need to make significant improvements defensively if they want to challenge for European qualification.
Kandolin will be tasked with improving West Ham’s goalkeeping options, and he will fancy his chances of getting the job done given his impressive track record.
It is unclear whether the Hammers plan to sign another goalie following Fabianski’s exit, but the incoming coach could play a huge role in whatever decision the club makes.
