Brighton and Hove Albion are through to the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time in their history.
They beat Liverpool 3-2 at St Helens – coming back from 2-0 down to win in additional time courtesy of a goal from Nadine Noordam, her first for the club.
And head coach Dario Vidosic told the club’s official website that he was proud of his players.
“It’s a huge and fantastic achievement, especially as it’s the first time in our history,” he said.
“Going to the home of football is something special and a privilege we are going to enjoy. It’s tough to get there and we’re one of only two teams who will be playing in the final. So I’m extremely proud of the girls and to be leading the team out at Wembley.
“The scenes at the end were great, to see the joy on the faces of the fans. It was nice to take a step back and watch everyone celebrate.”
Vidosic also spoke about the way his team had dominated the second half after a tentative opening 22 minutes – in which Liverpool scored twice.
But Manuela Vanegas got one back in the first half, with Madison Haley grabbing the equaliser.
“It was one of the best halves we’ve played,” he said. “We were so dominant and I felt the [winning] goal was coming.”
However, Vidosic warned his players to stay focused – with one more Women’s Super League match remaining.
“The best thing about our game is you can never be perfect – you can always get better.
“We still have a very important league game against Tottenham on Saturday, when we could get our record WSL points tally with a victory.
“So we will enjoy today and the girls deserve to, but we’ve got a very special end to the season to look forward to and we have to embrace that.”
