Chris Wood has said he hopes Nottingham Forest can keep hold of Elliot Anderson despite an approach from Manchester City.
Forest have rejected an opening offer from City for the England midfielder, with Vitor Pereira’s side demanding a fee in excess of £100m.
Anderson has emerged as a priority target for Manchester City and Manchester United this summer, following a standout season at the City Ground.
The 23-year-old has broken into the England team and featured as the Three Lions beat New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up game on Saturday.
Wood, who was part of the New Zealand side, told Sky Sports that he remains hopeful Forest can retain the midfielder.
“It’ll be fantastic if he does [stay], he’s a Forest player still and we want to keep him. What will be, will be. There are higher powers at play.
“He’s outstanding, it showed [tonight]. It was nice to play up against him for the first time and understand what he does. Some of those cutting balls were fantastic.”
