FC Barcelona manage to win yet another game in La Liga, with this being their seventh straight win across all competitions. With this one over Villarreal, moreover, La Blaugrana have extended their lead at the top of the league table to four points now.

A 2-0 victory away from home, it needed goals from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal to make it possible. Furthermore, it seems that Hansi Flick’s selection paid off for this particular game as well despite some notable players being unavailable.

Joan Garcia: 8.5

Save after save after save, the Spanish goalkeeper was immense in this game. From his distribution to his shot-stopping in unfavourable situations, Joan Garcia put in a big shift to ensure his clean sheet.

Jules Kounde: 7.0

Played a solid game and did well to support both his forwards and his defenders during the match. Unfortunately, seemed to have suffered a knock later on during the match and was a bit fortunate as well not to have scored an own goal.

Pau Cubarsi: 8.0

The young Spaniard had a great game, and both his distribution and defending were commendable aspects of it. Fought hard to win his duels and regularly found his teammates in good positions as well.

Gerard Martin: 7.5

Not directly tested as much as Pau Cubarsi, but did well to win his duels throughout the game and was also quite efficient in terms of his passing as well.

Alejandro Balde: 7.0

Covered a lot of ground during the game, but definitely made some errors here and there as well. Moreover, he was not always impactful going forward as well. Still, did his job well enough.

Eric Garcia: 7.0

A jack of all trades for Barcelona, and he put in a decent shift in midfield yet again. Not exactly a perfect performance, but good enough to help his team get the win.

Frenkie de Jong: 8.5

Dictated the tempo of the game quite well, especially in the second half, and made sure that Pedri’s absence was not felt too much. Also managed to get an assist for Lamine Yamal’s goal.

Lamine Yamal: 9.0

The boy wonder shined bright for the Catalan giants in a game where he needed to do so. Recovered the ball and made the pass that allowed Raphinha to win the penalty, and also scored a wonderful goal himself with a great finish. Beyond that, his dribbling prowess was on full display and even managed to get a Villarreal player sent off.

Fermin Lopez: 7.0

Active in midfield and definitely intense for as long as he was on the pitch. Took a few shots at goal as well, but was unfortunately not very lucky with them.

Raphinha: 8.5

Won a penalty quite well early on in the game and then scored it equally well too. Beyond that, his intensity was great to watch even when he had to play as a central attacking midfielder. Top display from the Brazilian forward for Barcelona.

Ferran Torres: 6.0

Quite restricted in terms of his movement and ability to impact the game this time around.

Substitutes:

Robert Lewandowski: 6.5

Connected well with his teammates and it allowed them to create some positive plays when he was on the field.

Marcus Rashford: 6.0

Brought a new level of technical ability on the left wing and it created unique headaches for Villarreal.

Marc Bernal: 7.0

Played quite well despite entering the game late and even showcased a few moments of great intelligence on the field that opened the way for his other teammates.
