With Alexander Isak refusing to train or play football for Newcastle United across the summer, the BBC Sport pundit believing this has directly impacted on the player and Liverpool as a whole.

Sutton declaring; “You reap what you sow”, as Isak has looked neither fully fit nor sharp, when he has been on the pitch for Liverpool.

This weekend saw Liverpool make it five defeats in their last six games, as the incredible luck they experienced of winning so many early matches they didn’t deserve to. The fact that their £130m Premier League record signing that they forced out of Newcastle United was missing with yet another ‘groin injury’, just adds to the anger and frustration Liverpool fans are aiming at Arne Slot and the club’s record signing.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton talking about Alexander Isak going on strike at Newcastle United and what he believes this has led to with his disastrous time at Liverpool so far:

“It feels like what has happened to Alexander Isak is a case of you reap what you sow.

“Isak has been short of full fitness and especially sharpness all season anyway and he did not help himself there by missing training with Newcastle, in order to try to force his move to Anfield through.

“He got what he wanted…but now he is trying to play catch-up instead of hitting the ground running, because of the time he had off, and that is when you can pick up injuries.

“Alexander Isak is too good a player not to eventually start scoring goals, but this whole situation has affected Liverpool as a team too, because his lack of fitness is one of the reasons they have not clicked in the final third yet.”
