Josko Gvardiol is yet to play for Manchester City this season. The Croatian defender has missed all of Manchester City’s first three matches due to a knee injury. But as tomorrow’s clash with Manchester United draws closer, it seems that Gvardiol could return for Pep Guardiola’s side tomorrow. That would be a massive boost for City in a match they must win.

Josko Gvardiol has trained ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Manchester United.

It was revealed this week that Josko Gvardiol had returned to training. That is welcome news for Manchester City. CityXtra reported yesterday that Rayan Ait-Nouri is ruled out of tomorrow’s match due to injury. John Stones is also in doubt for the clash with Manchester United. So there is potentially an opening for Gvardiol to play either at left-back or at centre-back at the Etihad tomorrow. He is adept at playing either role for Pep Guardiola’s side. If he does return, he will add tremendous quality in possession and defensively to the City lineup.

Manchester City have missed Josko Gvardiol’s talents on the pitch.

Manchester City has missed the presence of Josko Gvardiol on the pitch to start the 25/26 season. There is a strong argument to be made that Gvardiol is Manchester City’s best centre-back. He formed a strong pairing with Ruben Dias at the back end of last season. Gvardiol does seem to make Dias a better player, so his presence has been missed in the heart of City’s defence. At left-back, Gvardiol is a weapon going forward and helps Manchester City’s possession play. Those attributes have been missed while he has beaten out due to injury. Hopefully, Gvardiol can return tomorrow to help strengthen Manchester City’s defence either by playing at left-back or centre-back.

Josko Gvardiol seems to be on the verge of returning for Manchester City. If he can return for tomorrow’s Manchester derby, that would be welcome news for Pep Guardiola’s side. He is a key player for City, and they have missed him to start the 25/26 season.
