Dorival Júnior’s sacking at Corinthians has sparked online jabs from agents of Igor Coronado and José Martínez, and from Martínez himself, following the club’s announcement on Sunday.
According to Meu Timao, his severance is about R$ 7.5 million, covering early termination and existing debts. The 1-0 loss to Internacional left him nine matches without a win and was followed by his dismissal, after a run that also included a Paulista semi-final exit to Novorizontino.
On Sunday, agent Diogo Silva Lima defended Martínez on Instagram, calling him the side’s driving force and saying they would be back. The Venezuelan had departed after a delayed return in pre-season.
Martínez then adopted an ironic tone on social media, implying the coach had forced his exit and would now face the consequences, adding that the truth would be known soon.
On Monday, Rafael Brandino, who represents Coronado, posted about time confirming everything and said they would move on, after the midfielder rescinded his contract with the club.
Dorival arrived in April 2025 and won the 2025 Copa do Brasil against Vasco da Gama and this season’s Supercopa Rei, 2-0 over Flamengo. Corinthians now prioritise Fernando Diniz, with Sylvinho as back-up, and visit Platense in Buenos Aires on Thursday at 21:00 in the Libertadores group stage.
