The Cherries star missed the draw against West Ham through injury
Bournemouth are confident Antoine Semenyo will be able to make his return from injury against Sunderland.
Semenyo missed last weekend’s comeback draw against West Ham after aggravating a previous ligament issue around his ankle and shin while on international duty with Ghana.
The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the most impressive forwards in the Premier League this season having netted six goals and registered three assists 11 appearances so far.
In his absence against West Ham, Marcus Tavernier and Enas Unal stepped up to rescue a point for the Cherries and avoid a third straight defeat.
But Semenyo has made a swift recovery, though it remains to be seen if he will start the game at the Stadium of Light.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the weekend, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola said of his forward being available for selection: “I hope so, we still have to do some training today, but he has been doing modified training with the team in the previous days.
“So if everything goes well today, yes, I think he is going to be available for tomorrow.”
There was less positive news about Ryan Christie who was injured during the 2-2 draw against the Hammers and is now facing an extended period on the sidelines.
"Ryan (Christie) got injured with the national team, same as Ben (Gannon-Doak),” Iraola added. “He (Ryan Christie) played with some pain against Greece, and he also played with some pain against West Ham for us.
“But we did an MRI after the game as he wasn't feeling comfortable, and he has a sprain in the knee, and he will be out for some time, I think.”
