Atletico Madrid have reached a deal with Real Sociedad to sign Robin Le Normand. The Spanish international will sign for Los Rojiblancos once Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign is over.

The 27-year-old has been a regular for La Real for the last five seasons, and has become part of the furniture in Donostia-San Sebastian, but Atletico had outlined him as one of their top targets for this summer as early as February of this year. Relevo report that they have now reached a deal with the final fee between €28m and €30m.

As per Matteo Moretto, Le Normand, who is focused on his Spain duties, had already given the green light for the deal, and agreed to terms on a long-term contract before leaving for Germany. Last week after lengthy talks, Real Sociedad and Atletico exchanged documents to formalise the deal. A key part of the deal getting done was Atletico reaching an agreement with Fenerbahce for Caglar Soyuncu to leave.

Le Normand will strengthen the weakest defence in the Diego Simeone era this summer, as El Cholo looks to get back some of the solidity that originally brought him success. It will be interesting to see if he continues to use three at the back, a system which Le Normand has not operated in regularly.
