Barcelona continue to widen their focus in the global youth market, and a new Brazilian name has now emerged on their radar.

According to SPORT, the Catalan club are closely tracking Eduardo Conceicao, a highly rated 16-year-old left winger currently developing in the academy of Palmeiras.

Conceicao is viewed as a long-term project rather than an immediate signing, but Barcelona’s interest is already well established.

As reported before, his representatives have visited the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, which is a clear signal that initial contacts have gone beyond simple scouting reports.

What is Barcelona’s plan?

Barcelona’s sporting department has been particularly active in recent months, working to strengthen the club’s youth structure.

Several young players are already on their way, and the strategy is focused on identifying elite potential early while maintaining a clear development pathway.

As previously reported, Conceicao’s agents were summoned to Barcelona in December for meetings.

Those talks were led by Joao Amaral, the person responsible for Barcelona’s scouting operations, alongside Deco, the club’s head of the sporting area.

During those discussions, Barcelona made it clear that Conceicao is a player they are monitoring very closely.

The winger’s technical quality, one-on-one ability, and attacking instincts have made him stand out within Palmeiras’ youth setup, placing him among the most promising Brazilian prospects of his age group.

What now?

As such, any potential move remains some distance away, as FIFA regulations prevent Conceicao from moving to Europe until January 2028, when he turns 18.

That means Barcelona must adopt a patient approach, focusing on relationship-building and long-term planning rather than immediate negotiations.

Even when the timing becomes possible, the operation will be complex, as Conceicao is under contract with Palmeiras until 2029 and has a release clause set at €100 million.
