Rayan is close to leaving Vasco for Bournemouth, with talks advanced but not yet concluded. He sat out the clássico against Flamengo after asking not to play as negotiations progressed.
According to Globo.com, the clubs are ironing out final terms and a five-year offer has swayed the player. Pedrinho, Felipe and Fernando Diniz held repeated talks to keep him.
Vasco hold 70% of Rayan’s economic rights and want to net more than €25 million. The fee under discussion is around €35 million.
With a good relationship with Rayan and Valkmar, Vasco are seeking a solution with Bournemouth. The forward sees the English stage and family and staff entitlements as potentially transformative.
His representatives had not wanted him to play against Maricá, yet he made himself available and scored twice in a 4-2 win in the Carioca opener, likely his farewell at São Januário.
Vasco had anticipated bids but none arrived, and believe the strongest offers usually come in the summer window. Newcastle, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund had signalled interest.
If the transfer is completed, Rayan would earn more than at Vasco, where he became the squad’s second-highest earner in December. Bournemouth’s push and project have been influential.
