Breno Bidon tops outfield appearances under Dorival Júnior at Corinthians

Dorival Júnior’s Corinthians has a new most-used outfield player. Breno Bidon, a starter in recent matches, has taken the top spot in the ranking of players with the most games under the current coaching staff, following his performances against Internacional and Mirassol.

Until then, Talles Magno led the list, but he missed the last two games. Due to a technical decision, the forward was not even included in the squad for the match against Mirassol. Meanwhile, Matheuzinho took advantage of his teammate’s absence and climbed the rankings, securing a spot among the top three.

Adding up the matches with Dorival Júnior in charge and also the last game, in which Lucas Silvestre replaced the coach, Breno Bidon has reached 26 games played. Talles Magno, who did not play in the last two rounds, remains at 24 matches, the same number now reached by Matheuzinho, who now shares third place in the ranking with him.

The 20-year-old midfielder has become an essential piece in the new coaching staff’s scheme. Previously, he alternated spots with Carrillo and José Martínez, playing as a second defensive midfielder or as a left-sided midfielder. With Rodrigo Garro’s injury, Breno started playing more centrally, taking on the role of the team’s main playmaker. He has played this role in the last four games — against Sport, Flamengo, Internacional, and Mirassol — and has performed well. He only missed the match against Fluminense due to suspension.

Meanwhile, Talles Magno has lost ground. The forward was a constant presence in the first 15 games under Dorival’s command but ended up dropping in performance and being replaced by other players. Recent injuries to Yuri Alberto led the coach to bet on Gui Negão, who has become the main striker. Matheuzinho, with no direct competition at right-back, maintained a regular run and surpassed Talles in number of appearances.

Overall, the most-used player continues to be goalkeeper Hugo Souza, who has played in all 30 matches under the new coaching staff. However, he will miss the derby against Santos on the 15th for the first time, after receiving his third yellow card against Mirassol. His absence was already expected, as the number 1 will be with the Brazilian National Team in Japan until the 14th and, in any case, would not be able to play in the match.
