Jorge Carrascal has been sent off three times in 2026, a tally that already matches Flamengo’s worst individual season mark since 2018. The Colombian’s run has angered supporters and has seen the club issue repeated fines.
According to Globo.com, only five Flamengo players have recorded three or more red cards in a single season since 2016. Carrascal now sits alongside Gabriel Barbosa, Gerson and Gonzalo Plata on three, with Gustavo Cuéllar the outlier on four in 2018.
Across the last 10 seasons, there were five campaigns in which no Flamengo player reached three reds, specifically 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024.
The volume is striking given the stage of the campaign and Carrascal’s role. He operates as an attacking midfielder, without the same defensive load typically carried by holding midfielders such as Cuéllar and Gerson.
Carrascal’s 2026 dismissals came in the Supercopa do Brasil final, Flamengo 0-2 Corinthians, then the Brasileiro, round 11, Fluminense 2-1 Flamengo, and round 17, Flamengo 0-3 Palmeiras.
