Celtic have held talks over a loan move for Leeds United striker Joel Piroe for the rest of the season, with the Scottish champions prepared to meet his wage expectations, according to Sky Sports News. Other clubs are interested, and neither Piroe nor Leeds are pushing for a departure, although a permanent offer would aid the club’s PSR position.
Piroe hit 19 goals in 46 matches last term as United won the league title. This season he has started only two Premier League games and is yet to score in any of his 12 appearances.
The arrivals of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have reduced his opportunities.
The 26-year-old has recently played down a move this month, saying it is not currently on the agenda. He indicated he would prefer any transfer to happen in pre-season to allow time to settle.
Celtic have also enquired about David Datro Fofana, Franko Kovacevic and Callum Wilson, although manager Martin O’Neill believes the West Ham United man is likely to head elsewhere.
