Celtic are set to clash with FK Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League this Wednesday. Both teams are eager to kick off their European campaigns on a high note.
The Hoops are currently grappling with a defensive injury crisis, sidelining key players Anthony Ralston, Auston Trusty, and Alistair Johnston. While Ralston and Trusty are anticipated to resume full training in the coming week, Johnston is expected to be out for approximately three months due to a hamstring injury sustained during the Champions League play-offs.
Additionally, winger Jota remains out of action following an ACL injury he suffered in April. Jota’s ongoing absence continues to limit Celtic’s options on the wings offensively. However, the recently signed Kelechi Iheanacho may feature in European competition for the first time after making a strong start domestically. The former Leicester City forward scored a late penalty on his debut versus Kilmarnock and adds fresh attacking possibilities for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Celtic Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Tierney; Nygren, McGregor, Hatate; Balikwisha, Iheanacho, Maeda.
