Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly earned his first-ever senior England cap during this evening’s 2026 World Cup qualifier at home to Serbia.
The 20-year old was named in the starting XI for the Three Lions by England boss Thomas Tuchel.
In the process O’Reilly became the latest member of City’s famed Academy to be afforded a full international debut.

For O’Reilly, who joined City’s Academy at Under-9s, this latest landmark moment further cements what has been a magnificent start to the 2025/26 campaign.
Nico has featured in 14 games across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side to date, scoring once and gaining widespread acclaim for his impact and influence.
O’Reilly’s impressive ongoing contribution was also further recognised with the youngster signing a new long-term contract with City in September, penning a five-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad through to the summer of 2025.
In representing the Three Lions tonight, the midfielder/defender also became the 34th different player to earn their first England cap whilst a Manchester City player and the 54th City representative overall.
He is also the sixth City player to feature for England before turning 21 following in the illustrious footsteps of Peter Barnes, Micah Richards, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Rico Lewis.
Everyone at Manchester City send their congratulations to Nico on this magnificent milestone achievement.
