Corinthians have been the poorest in Brazil’s Série A at capitalising on a numerical advantage, averaging 1.06 points per game in such scenarios since 2022. Across 17 matches with an extra player up to 26 April, they collected only 18 points.

According to Bolavip Brasil, using Opta data, the study covered all Brasileiro games from 2022 to the 13th round of this year that ended with uneven numbers. Matches without dismissals or with equal red cards were excluded.

The league-wide average when playing with an extra man is 1.89 points per game, highlighting the gap. When reduced in numbers, Corinthians average one point per game.

André Luiz was sent off on 45 minutes of the first half for a foul on Thiago Mendes. Even so, Corinthians beat Vasco da Gama 1-0 at Neo Química Arena.

In the 2026 Brasileiro, Corinthians are the second most ill-disciplined side with six red cards, behind Coritiba on seven. They have also received 41 yellows, second most, with Santos on 46.

Corinthians sit 17th with 15 points from 14 games. They host São Paulo on Sunday at 18:30 in round 15. Before that, they face Independiente Santa Fe on Wednesday at 21:30 in Libertadores Group E.
