With four days remaining before their FIFA Women’s Club World Cup bow, Corinthians are in London awaiting three team-mates still in Brazil due to UK entry paperwork.

According to Meu Timao, Dayana Rodríguez, Paola García and Gisela Robledo did not travel with the squad on Tuesday because required documents were not finalised. Venezuelan and Colombian passport holders face additional procedures compared with Brazilians and even Uruguayan Belén Aquino.

The process is ongoing and the players are waiting for British authorities to complete it. Early optimism has given way to uncertainty as a one-off, knockout tie looms.

Corinthians face Gotham FC, the reigning Concacaf champions, featuring Brazilians Gabi Portilho and Bruninha alongside internationals from the United States and Europe.

Even if the trio make it in time, adaptation is a concern. London is bitterly cold and a Corinthians TV video from Friday’s session at Barnet FC showed the strain of training in such conditions.

Any absence would be significant, especially that of Dayana Rodríguez, a starting midfielder central to the team’s defensive balance. Robledo has been used in rotation, while recent arrival Paola García was emerging as a useful defensive option.

The squad is already depleted. Centre-backs Thaís Regina and Agustina Barroso did not travel, the former after surgery for a fracture of the left ankle fibula, the latter due to a recurring contracture linked to scarring in the left soleus.

The Copa das Campeãs semi-final is scheduled for Wednesday, 28, at the Gtech Community Stadium.
